Our Maritime Locals If you’re a non-union Maritime structural or reinforcing ironworker or welder – or an aspiring future ironworker – the Maritime provincial Locals of the Ironworkers union would want to talk to you for what they know can be a win-win conversation. And if you’re living elsewhere, you may want to consider that ironworkers in the four Maritime provinces enjoy the similar top wages and benefits as their counterparts in other parts of the country. On top of that, our cities and communities are blessed with lower costs of living and housing – and nowhere in the Maritime provinces is more than 15 minutes from world-class nature! At the time of writing (03/2023) our members in most Maritime provinces were busy on many ongoing projects, both small and large. There are also some much larger projects in the development stages, and someday we’ll be helping to turn those plans into reality. PLEASE NOTE: Our Newfoundland Local does not require new members in the near- and middle-term, but we’re happy to accept applications from those who are prepared to wait patiently. Our officials believe that long-term prospects for steady employment and a continuing steady supply of new projects will keep providing our members with the stability that comes with good incomes and generous benefits. If you’re a man or woman ironworker, an apprentice, or wanting to start an apprenticeship career path, we want to hear from you. We admit new members to replace retiring members, and to meet increased demand by employers for our members’ skills. We want you to apply! We’ll keep your personal and work details permanently on file. If you’re a qualified man of woman ironworker or apprentice (current or future candidate), we’ll call you just as soon as there is employer demand for workers with your combination of skills and experience. (Please be aware that application for membership is no guarantee of acceptance or work.) | ||
